I’ve lost my Drivers Licence, what do I do?
If you are in the NWT and your Drivers Licence has been lost or stolen...
To obtain a replacement Drivers Licence (DL), you must go into the nearest Issuing Office and:
- produce two pieces of acceptable identification;
- complete and sign the Declaration of Lost or Misplaced Drivers Licence (available at the Issuing Office); and
- provide the details on how the Drivers Licence was lost, stolen, or misplaced.
You will also be required to complete an application for a Drivers Licence, and pay the replacement fee.
If you cannot provide the acceptable identification, please contact the Road Licensing and Safety Division at (867) 873-7406.
If you are outside of the NWT and your Drivers Licence has been lost or stolen...
You must report the loss or theft to the Road Licensing & Safety Division headquarters office: (867) 873-7406.
You will then be required to fax copies of at least two acceptable pieces of identification to (867) 873-0120.
Once everything has been processed, and your identity verified the HQ office will fax you a Lost Drivers Licence letter and a certified driver’s inquiry.
You will only be able to obtain a replacement licence after you return to the NWT.
